GIBBONS FRUSTRATED AS YET ANOTHER BOUT FALLS THROUGH

Ryan Gibbons has had his return put on hold as his bout in Everton was cancelled 2 hours ahead of the youngster making the trip to Merseyside. The reasons were that Everton Red Triangle has double matched their boy with a club that had 3 other boxers on the card and they could not afford to cancel them out.Gibbons was looking forward to his showdown in Liverpool however this was not to be. It also showed later that the said club his opponent was doubled matched with was Burmantofts who only had the one lad on the one that boxed Ryans scheduled opponent. We dont mind lads being pulled out at last minute if clubs have a doubt but to tell us the lie they told us makes me cringe. I am honestly surprised at ERT as they have always been okay with us. Now our lad is disappointed but still he will feature again shortly we hope. Said Father and Coach Mike Gibbons.

Generally City Head Coach is happy with the progress however is concerned that not all of the squad is giving the preseason training their best efforts. We had a cracking season last season but this time last year we were all back training hard. There is a section of the squad that yet to be regular at training which is not how we do things at the club. We need to address this and let the small minority know that if you dont put the work in at the gym you wont be pulling on a City kit this season. Said Gibbons. We dont want to sound hard on anyone and we appreciate that sometimes things crop up. But generally we have a superb squad that is hard working and committed.
CITY TO DON NEW COLOURS

City of Hull ABC may be wearing new colours for the new season early reports suggest that they are binning the traditional red white and blue strip and going for a black and amber or even gold strip. This is due to the ever increasing squad and the expensive solution of kitting kids out with a red strip and a blue kit is not cost effective. We have to look at this in a business way. 2 kits at 16365 each equals 163130 per boxer exclusing the headguard and gloves. We can kit boxers out in set colour i.e Black with a selected choice of trim for around 16335 its a no brainer. However we need to pass this through the committee first. It is highly probable that the squad will have a new look to them in the new season finished Gibbons.

City of Hull Amateur Boxing Club could find themselves occupying a brand new purpose built building as early as 2013 says Mike Gibbons following his early talks with Hull City Council officials. City are close to proposing a new site very local to its current location where the building will boast a modern cafe dance studio cardio room offices and meeting rooms reception area as well as purpose built gym on the upper level. There is suggestion that the club will be a pavillion too housing football and rugby teams where there will be a social club bar facility to hold functions.Mike Gibbons did state that plans are in the early stages as funding bids are still to be written however the political side which is normally the stumbling block in these things seem to be in full favour of the development. We have a funding partner working with City of Hull Sport amp Community Group which is the company that manages the current base for City we are aiming for 163500000.00 to build the developmen...

ROSENBERG TO JOIN CITY

Former West Hull Hull Saints and currently St Pauls Senior Ashley Rosenberg has joined City of Hull ABC it was revealed from the club today. The light middleweight joins the club with a 5050 record 15 wins from 30 contests and is eyeing up a debut for the club as soon as possible.Ash is a grafter. He loves his training I had the pleasure to work with him back in our Hull Saints days then when I left to set up City he moved to St Pauls which suprised me as he had some good training and sparring partners at Saints and if he did want to move then we had one or two options at City. Since then though our senior squad has increased again with Danny Little Jamie Day and Jonny Kershaw not to mention the up and coming lads too so Ash is in good company. We are suprised he has chosen to leave St Pauls as it is a great club while at the same time we are thrilled he has joined us Said Gibbons.
